RUSH INFO
This semester Alpha Psi Omega AEY is holding rush to find its Beta pledge class. Take a look around our site, take a look at http://www.alphapsiomega.org, and see if you like what we're all about.
If you're interested in membership, you can talk to Darrell McTague, Chapter President and acting Rush Chair. Tell him your experiences in theater and dramatic arts here at UMass and he can discuss with you and help you determine if you're eligible for membership. Below you can see our general eligibility requirements, but occasionally some special allowances are made. Auditions that may not have landed you a role, auditions that you're currently doing or waiting for, shows you may not think qualify, etc may all be taken into account towards your eligibility. Even if you see the requirements below and don't think you're eligible, talk to Darrell; you may be surprised...
Any questions, comments, or if you would like to contact a member of the chapter to talk or say you'd like to join, you can send an email to our chapter's general inbox at alphapsiomega.umass@gmail.com, or if you prefer, you can use our Members page to find us on facebook and contact us that way.
ELIGIBILITY
Eligibility for membership in Alpha Psi Omega is based on participation in the Dramatic Arts. You must accrue 75 points to gain eligibility.
For example:
A major role as an actor, designer, stage manager, etc in a main stage show - 25 points
A minor role as an actor, board operator, etc in a main stage show - 15 - 20 points (depends on particular job)
A semester of membership and performance/management in a group such as Sketch22 or Mission:IMPROVable - 25 points
A semester of work in a shop such as UM Theater Electrics shop, Scene Shop, Costume shop, etc - 15 points
Auditions do not hold a specific point value, but may very well be taken into consideration. Theater is as much about getting yourself out there and trying to land a role or job just as much as it is having that role or job.
You DO NOT have to be a theater major. You can be, we certainly welcome majors. We also certainly welcome non-majors.
You DO NOT have to be a guy. This is co-ed. Guys and girls are all accepted equally.
We DO NOT discriminate. This is theater. Theater takes all kinds, and there is always a role for everyone.
